Those beautiful sea shell images that you see most often are not typical beach finds, they are rare beach finds. Common beach detritus consists primarily of small shells (less than 2 inches) that have tumbled for an extended period of time time on the sandy bottom of the sea until they wash ashore, worn and imperfect. But they are not without beauty of their own . . .
